FAQs

Do different breeds of puppies need different training?
Different dog breeds have different temperaments, and may develop certain behaviours based on their genes. It’s worth looking into your dog’s specific breed so you can know what to expect and be patient with them while training. Working dogs such as German Shepherds, Border Collies and Labradors thrive with strict structure and rules, and need to be given jobs to do, so will be hard to manage if you aren’t consistent and proactive. Other dogs may be more easily distracted, especially if they’re prone to sniffing and hunting behaviours - like Greyhounds, Jack Russells or Beagles. Smaller dogs like Chihuahuas or Yorkshire Terriers can become yappy, nippy or bossy if they aren’t consistently trained.
The amount of treats your dog should eat depends on the recommended daily calorie allowance for their breed and age. Generally, treats should only make up 10% of their overall daily calories - check the packaging to work out calories-per-treat, and calculate a daily treat amount.
Delicious yet healthy treats are the best option when training a puppy. Choose treats that use natural ingredients, are free from artificial nasties, and are small enough for puppy mouths! You can use dog treats for crate training, toilet training, beginner tricks or teaching your puppy to go walkies with you. The possibilities are endless!
All dogs deserve treats, even those with dodgy tummies! The key is choosing dog treats that won’t cause havoc in their delicate tums, which means human leftovers and fatty, sugary treats are a no-no. Try some healthy dog treats made from natural ingredients. Many, such as our probiotic meaty treats, for instance, have added supplements that will actually support your dog’s digestive issues.
