Turkey (as mentioned) also contains L-tryptophan, an amino-acid that helps release the happy hormone, serotonin. Whether calming dog food works always depends on your particular dog and what they respond to, but plenty of experts agree that natural anxiety remedies have a positive effect on dogs’ behaviour. It’s also scientifically proven that what your dog eats and digests will have a direct impact on their mood, as the stomach and brain are intrinsically linked via the gut-brain axis.
